Everyone has those pieces they want to wear all the time, the ones that just work in any situation, and the ones that you always want to pair together. For me this outfit has been my go to look for so many events this spring: family reunions, birthday parties, vineyard trips, dates! I don’t know if I love the floral embroidery, or the crazy wonderful heels, or the navy/brown combo about it, but somehow it is just perfection in my book.
Speaking of navy and brown, everyone has different feeling when it comes to mixing neutral shades. I used to be solidly in the brown and black don’t work well together party, but over the past year or so my feelings. I’ve been known to put gray, black, brown, and navy all in one look! Mixing neutrals can be a hard style rule to break, but with these three tips you’ll be shaking your wardrobe up in no time.
1: Just because it’s a neutral, it doesn’t mean it can’t be your pop of colour.
Wearing an all black outfit with a rich brown purse will make the brown that much stronger and a standout! Navy and black? The varying shades will give the look dimension and depth.
2: When mixing colours, also mix tones.
All of the neutral colours come in varying light and dark tones. Pairing a light brown with a dark navy, or a dark gray with a light navy can add interesting contrast to a simple look.
3: Classic pieces.
Any time you are trying to mix patterns and colours it’s always best to choose classic pieces! Mixing neutrals, can be a very modern move so using classic styles can make the challenge way easier to accomplish.
