My Gal Friday: Annie of The Lovely Girl

My Gal Friday is all about supporting other bloggers, and sharing some of my favourite pages with all of you.

This week I want to introduce you to Annie from The Lovely Girl.

My Gal Friday has to be one of my favourite posts to write on Make Mine Maroon! I love introducing some of my favourite girl bosses. I have been wanting to feature Annie for a long time now, and I’m so flattered that she agreed to be My Gal Friday.

Annie not only runs a gorgeous personal blog all about style, health, and life, but she also is part of the duo that founded an amazing group for blogging gals called Style Collective. She is a true girl boss, and am so glad to have connected with her- she inspires me so much!

I love Annie’s chic, yet comfortable style. She takes classic pieces and puts them together in a way that always let’s her personal taste shine through. Annie shared her top three style pics she’s lusting over right now! I’m in love with her amazing taste, and had to compliment them with some picks of my own:

Annie sweetly agreed to answer some questions to share with you! Her answers made me love her even more; she so wonderful.

1: It’s the question that has to be asked: why did you start blogging?

“Alright, so I’ve been blogging for one year now. I originally started with a website called Collective Passions that was intended to be a community for entrepreneurs to connect and inspire each other. I didn’t really know what I was doing and found myself using it as a blog. I then started to connect with other lifestyle and fashion bloggers online through Instagram who inspired me to start sharing fashion and lifestyle content. I ended up rebranding my blog into The Lovely Girl and the community mission into Style Collective, which is a community for fashion and lifestyle influencers to connect with each other and in the future, brands. Growing up I was extremely shy and fashion was always my way of expressing myself, so I am really happy that my online friends encouraged me to pursue blogging about fashion!” (Style Collective has changed my entire blogging outlook!!!!)

2: What’s the one item in life you can’t live without (it doesn’t have to be fashion related!)?

“Don’t laugh, but my iPhone. After watching LOTR for the first time this past year, I started calling my phone “The Precious” in a weird creepy voice – my husband and I crack up when I’ve misplaced “the precious” and I run around the house looking for it LOL!”

3: What is your favourite part of blogging?

“Honestly, I love that it has allowed me to learn SO MUCH about the digital marketing space. I took a class in my MBA program called “Online Marketing Communications” where I learned all about marketing in the digital space. This was back in 2013 and I became so fascinated by it. I knew that I wanted to do something to help millennials that also had something to do with the shift in marketing from a funnel to a loop. Blogging opened the door so that I could get to know my peers and the struggle #thestruggleisreal.”

4: One random fact about you!

“I don’t watch TV, like ever. The only show I stream is Shark Tank. I’m also mildly obsessed with a British car show called “Top Gear” – so random, but I can’t get enough of Brit humor!” (Brit humour is the best!)

5: Where do you get the most inspiration from??

“For fashion bloggers, I love going to http://www.memorandum.com because I can really identify with her style. I was the girl in high school who wore high heels, dress pants, a blouse and a cute trench coat. I was always overdressed and never owned sweatpants until I went to college! (I’m the same way and am always overdressed!)

In real life, I look up to my Aunt who is a total girl boss. She is super smart, has great style and is so successful. She is a doctor (with an MBA) who lives in NYC. She works really hard, is so passionate about helping others, and doesn’t let the difficult things in life set her back or bring her down. She is an all around positive person and really inspires me to work hard and enjoy every moment in life! She also has the most fabulous shoe collection that I am really envious of!” (How cute is Annie and her Aunt? Style runs in this family!)
