“The great thing about getting older is that you don’t lose all the other ages you’ve been.”
You would think someone that puts so much of their life on the internet, including pictures of themselves would be comfortable talking about themselves- or celebrating their birthday! I’m not. I don’t like being the center of attention and have a major superstition about parties in my honor. The older I get the less likely I am to want to do anything for my birthday. I am however, blessed with some wonderful friends who always take the time to make me feel special this month!
Something I LOVE reading, is random facts about people- I don’t care if it’s in a tabloid magazine, and Instagram story or another blog! I just think it’s so fun learning about people and what makes them tick. There was no way I was going to come up with enough facts to match my age! Instead I’m sharing three to match the month of March! Here are three things that don’t often make it to the blog or social media:
1: I am all about Star Wars.
I have a massive Star Wars toy and t-shirt collection. The Empire Strikes back is my favorite movie EVER. I can remember every single thing about the first time I watched, from who I was with to what I was wearing (shoutout to how awesome french braided pigtails are!). One of the quickest ways for me to lose respect for someone is if they don’t watch the opening scroll! *cringe*
2: I love classic French and British literature.
I would prefer to read an old book to a new book! My favorite authors are Bronte, Dumas and Dickens. I’ve read The Count of Monte Cristo and Wuthering Heights at least two dozen times each; picking up a well loved novel is like visiting an old friend! I always read paper copies and cannot do digital books- I love the visceral feeling and scent!
3: Poetry is how I understand myself.
Something I have shared on the blog is my life with depression/ptsd/anxiety. I have not shared how I use writing poetry to process the internal discord. It’s not something I share with others, the stanzas are purely my way of coping without turning to more physical unhealthy coping mechanisms. Many people journal which is something that has never really worked in my life, for me it’s a scrap of paper or a napkin that I put my inner feeling on and tuck away.
Happy Birthday to me and all the other March babes out there!
Here’s to another year of growth and becoming the truest forms of ourselves that we can be.
Since it’s my birthday, I decided what better day to do a giveaway! I teamed up with a couple other bloggers for this Target gift card giveaway. It’s my birthday, but it might be your lucky day so enter now!
