“She felt like a punked-out, faux leather wearing, free-thinking Bratz doll in a sea of Pretty Princess of Preppyland Barbies.”
If you’ve been here for a while you know how much I LOVE to mix textures when styling clothes, like lace and leather or suede and chiffon. With the arrival of cooler weather, I can finally wear my favourite leather pieces!
(Words can not convey how truly I excited I am about this….)
Wearing leather boots or using a leather bag are pretty common, even everyday occurrences for most! However, there are so many other stylish ways you can work leather into your look to take it to then next level.
1: Think outside more than just a purse or jacket!
Take a leather skirt! Leather is a fantastic fabric that is soft and pliable, yet holds it shape and doesn’t cling- which makes it perfect for skirts! I’ve had this BCBG faux leather skirt for years now and it never goes out of style and I never lose inspiration about how to style it.
2: Use leather to add colour!
Another stylish way to add leather to your look is by using coloured leather pieces to add a pop to any look! This eggplant shaded bag by Gigi New York that I received at the Shop Style Social House during #NYFW is quickly becoming a staple in my wardrobe. The rich shade and classic shape work well with any dressed up or casual look.
3: Just go for it!
The beauty of leather is it’s one of the few fashion things you can never have too much of. You might be thinking “yikes, I’ll look like Catwoman!” In all seriousness though you can pair the leather pants with the leather boots for a leg-lengthening look or pair a leather skirt and jacket for a tough yet chic style.
Do you love this style as much as I do? It’s seriously my favourite to wear! I hope you’re each having a marvelous week so far.
