Life is Crazy, Wear Your Wellies

“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonders forever.”

-Jacques Ives Cousteau

Life is crazy.

Not just your life or my life, this season or the past season but life in general! If you don’t know already I’m a #militaryspouse which at times holds it’s own special craziness- like planning a cross-country move from Washington DC to Washinton State with a six-month pitstop in Pensacola Florida. 17 days till the lease in DC ends and the first part of the road trip begins!

Life feels completely CRAZY right now.

As I write this I’m in WA and on the WC for the first time! We are house hunting for two weeks before the move to FL happens. To say I’ve fallen in love with the area would be an understatement! I can NOT wait to relocate to this charming and beautiful area of Whidbey Island. It’s covered in amazing trails, local coffee shops and stunning views- like this lighthouse.

Over the past few days of exploring, I’ve made some discoveries about how my style is going to have change when the move happens. Have you ever heard the Pacific Northwest is rainy and overcast? It’s all the truth.

Here are the top three things I know are going to be vital to my wardrobe:

1: Wellies!

I am so glad I invested in these Hunter rain boots during this year’s #NSale! So far they are the only shoes I’ve worn on the island- the non-slip bottom has kept me upright traversing across slick wooden decks and the heavy duty rubber keeps my feet super dry. Hunters are an investment but knowing the cost per wear is going to be super low and because they are quality they will last FOREVER.

2: A raincoat.

I don’t mean a little poncho or an umbrella from Target- I mean a quality raincoat that can be layered over other pieces to keep me toasty and dry year round! I have a short raincoat but I plan on finding a longer one that will keep me as dry as possible.

3: Fleece lined leggings.

I’m a legging babe. I always have been. Granted I always wear tunic length pieces over them! I don’t think my collection of regular leggings are going to cut it out here. I’m going to need to put a few pairs of fleece lined ones in my drawers to stay warm! Fortunately, they are super easy to find and just as comfy as regular leggings.

Life might always be crazy but there are beautiful sights and people to keep you grounded along the way. I’m so excited for this next step and to share the journey with you! If you live in the area and have any tips about where to go or what to wear please let me know. Happy New Week babes!

I had no idea you are a military spouse, wow, thank you both for your service! I say both because your hubby is serving our country and you are sacrificing so much as well, thank you! I can imagine how tough it can be to pick up shop and relocate, but when it’s to a place you really love, like Whidbey Island, it’s not so bad! It looks so incredibly charming, I can’t wait for you to share more once you move. I need to get a pair of Hunters myself. Every time I’ve tried during a sale, they sell out almost immediately in black and that’s the first color I want to get. Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great week so far!
