Lipstick and Hemlines Debunked

Two trends have long been linked to the economy- hemlines and lipstick. Bad economy- longer hemlines, more lipstick; good economy- vice versa. Folks. Sometimes old adages don’t hold true; look at the recent runways- lipstick and no lipstick, hemlines long and short!

We’ve entered a new era. The economy no longer rules the fashion world (which makes sense, stodgy old stockbrokers needn’t be in my closet). Instead it’s all about what suits you, what your personal adage is.

The question is: do you really need anyone to tell you this?

I don’t need to go on a diatribe telling you to make yourself happy through fashion- that’s no different than commanding what’s in or not. Personal choices are replacing the designers demands on the fashion world; street style is making waves.

Old rules are dying. Wear white all year. Wear black and navy and brown. Wear lipstick no matter how much money you have in your wallet. Wear a skirt that makes you want to twirl or your legs a mile long. Wear something that screams you. Wear something from the shopping links below, just click on the pics.

Fun post, and very true! I’m going to share it on my Facebook page. I’m also going to share it with my boyfriend who seems puzzled by my decision to wear things that don’t “match” by normal standards. ?

Thanks so much for the share! It’s funny how confused boys get when you dress for you and not them.
