Makeup Monday x Nail Care

I think Makeup Monday has talked about mascara, eyeliner, brows, primers, everything! So for today’s take on the series I wanted to take a moment to talk about nail care. I’ve linked some of my favourite nail colours and treatments above. (Click the pic to shop!)

I have to confess; I used to be a rabid nail biter. My father always told me my hands would look so pretty if I would stop biting them! Growing up I tried everything: rubber band round the wrist, nasty tasting nail polish, cayenne pepper. Nothing would make me stop though. However, the day he was diagnosed with cancer I stopped, and haven’t bit them since. Perhaps it’s strange, but now every time I paint them I think of how proud he would be. It’s amazing how the little things can mean the most.

Let me tell you a little about the products I’ve put together above:

1: OPI Lincoln Park After Dark

In one light this is a deep purple, in another it looks black. This shade is one of OPI’s top sellers and is always a chic colour option for daytime or a night out.

2: Deborah Lippman Cuticle Remover

Dermatologists and doctors go back and forth on whether or not you should remove your cuticles. I may have stopped biting my nails, but I do tend to pick at my cuticles- so personally it is better if I use a formula like this to remove them. It takes all of 10 seconds and leaves your nail beds clean and smooth.

3: Essie Ballet Slippers

Another cult classic, this Essie shade is the perfect nude polish. Brides everywhere love it, but don’t discount it for everyday wear on fingers and toes.

4: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails

This is my secret weapon for growing long strong nails! I love the shiny clear coat on my nails, and the product works magic. I tend to apply it several times a week as it does chip off easily, but the results are well worth it (plus it dries in under 20 seconds).

5: China Glaze For Audrey

If you’re like me you love everything Audrey Hepburn related! This shade is the exact shade of Tiffany’s Blue in honor of her film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s so perfectly bright and lovely for warm spring and summer days, and completely plays up a tan!

Have you used any of these products? Or do you have a favourite shade? I’m always looking for a new one to try!

Happy Monday loves, I hope you each had a great start to the week.

Loving the China Glaze – Audery color as it’s such a pretty shade for Spring!

Another color I recommend is anything with a peach/coral color – I think Essie has a lot of great options!

Thanks for the advice! I have been trying to find a way to make my nails look a little more polished when I do them at home and I think the cuticle remover would help! I didn’t know there was such a thing! Alos… dark purple is literally my favorite nail color!
    Awesome picks.
