Makeup Monday x Skincare

I love makeup as much as the next gal, but all the makeup in the world can’t hide skin that isn’t taken care of! I’ve been trying to be much better about establishing and consistently maintaining a skincare routine. I think I finally found the perfect formulas for me! They have really evened out my skin tone, diminished dark circles, and make me look way way less tired than I always am.

Day Skincare

1: Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

I’ve raved about micellar waters before, but they really are great! I love how they remove makeup at night, and also are fantastic for taking off your sleepy face and refreshing your skin gently.

2: Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Dry Skin Cocktail

I won’t lie, I initially bought this based on the name and the fact that when you shake the bottle the oils blend together like some cool 90’s toy! Wowza, it’s amazing though! It quenches my dry patches without making my oily patches oilier. Magic. Plus the vitamin C really is brightening and smoothening. I’m on my 3rd bottle!

3: Kate Somerville CytoCell Dark Circle Corrective Creme

This is not a concealer, and does not contain pigment. It is an eye cream though that makes both of those less wanted, and makeup free days possible. Smooth and the littlest bit goes a long way, this eye cream really does all that it claims!

Night Skincare

4: boscia Purifying Black Cleanser

My oily skin lovessss charcoal products! I went to the dermatologist for acne many times through my teen years, and I credit my clear skin now to charcoal cleansers (which no dermatologist ever suggested…. go figure). This one has a relaxing warming sensation that makes the day and your makeup melt away.

5: Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

Have you ever used a retinol? Experts say to start in your mid 20s for prevention against wrinkles and dark spots. I have nothing against showing your age, but I do love how they smooth and even out skin tone now, and if they help down the road I’ll take that too! I’ve used a couple, and they were painful- especially when combined with sunlight. This blue oil (literally blue out of the bottle) is unnerving, I thought I was going to look like a Smurf, but goes on colourless. Major awesome results, basically I’m addicted + no issues with my best friend the sun!

6: Sunday Riley Good Genes

Chock full of all the good for you skincare ingredients, I like the idea of it soaking into my skin overnight delivering magical gifts to all my cells. Since using this, the oily parts and uber dry parts of my skin have started playing nicely, and my skin is even.

7: Dr. Brandt Needles No More

Cutesy name, heavy duty product- this baby moisturizes, and when you go to bed noticing those little lines from laughing all day know that when you wake up they will be completely gone. I don’t know how, but it works!

I’m getting better about sticking to my skincare routine! Now I just have to keep working on the whole sunscreen thing…..

Thanks for sharing your current skin care faves, beauty! I really need to jump on the micellar water bandwagon because I’ve been reading nothing but great reviews on them, regardless of the brand. They seem so much better for your skin that tugging with the wipes! I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

I was always taught that it is very important to use night and day creams to have the perfect skin and it does help. Good thing you are letting others know about this!
