Off the shoulder tops are having a major moment this spring! I love the subtly sexy style, and how classic Bridget Bardot they look. As this post shows, I love a good voluminous item, and this top by MLM is no exception. Not only is the style of an off the shoulder top classic, but this black and white gingham makes it even more so. I’ve rounded up 3 tips to make what seems like a tricky style seem way more approachable!
1: Pick a pattern or colour you love!
When it comes to pieces like the OTS look, you probably won’t get a ton of wear out of it unless it connects to your wardrobe in a solid way- by colour or pattern.
The off the shoulder style is a major statement maker, so don’t feel the need to pile on a ton of other loud pieces. It’s definitely a KISS item: Keep It Simple Sweetheart.
3: Up vs Down Hair!
If you feel uber revealing in the style, take the bareness down a notch by keeping your hair down or in a side braid. If you want to play up the sweep of your neck for a night out, add some delicate chain necklaces.
I played of the classic look of my mine with some Audrey Hepburn inspired black skinny pants (with a modern twist of a DIY slit on the knee) and my simple black flats. I can’t wait to play around with the blouse some more though.
Have you rocked this style yet for spring? I’ve linked some of my favourite tops below for some inspo, and encouragement!
