Here I Am: Onward and Upward, Finding Happiness

Basking in Burgundy Onward and Upward

Why hello. It’s been a while.

Have you ever said life just got away from you?

Where you were caught up in the timing of unplanned circumstances?

Paulo Coelho said,

“Life has a way of testing a person’s will:

either by nothing happening, or everything happening all at once.”

Basking in Burgundy

That’s where I have been the past year. Life has happened offline in a way that I felt I couldn’t fake a happy picture online. A mental breakdown, a divorce and a cross country move later I feel I can again post a happy picture that isn’t a farce. I must say you could fathom that the three were intertwined. Part of the breakdown was because of the divorce and the sole reason I had to move was because of the divorce. I could get the best divorce attorney overland park to see through the legal process, but the other two, I could find no antidote to. But things have settled and the smile in these pictures is true happiness, confidence in myself and knowledge that I am growing into the best possible version of myself.

My personal mantra this year has been:

Onward and Upward.

In my life this mantra means moving constantly onward in life while looking upward toward eternal life. My challenge has been to be present in each moment and not living in the past or the future. However, like a late 15th century Titian painting, I am “non finito“. While I have learned there is beauty in every piece of art finished or unfinished, I struggle to accept each brush stroke not being perfection.

Onward and upward is allowing myself to let go of my need for perfection. To be raw and broken, open and unfiltered with the hope of enabling others to find the same self love.

So cheers babes! Let’s more onward and upward together!
