Secrets to Pulling off an Oversized Sweater and Tall Boots

“In order to be irreplaceable one must be always be different.”
-Coco Chanel

It always surprises people who follow me online when they meet me offline and find I’m only 5ft. Being petite can present certain style challenges. There are always “special rules” for tiny ladies. Do wear tailored pieces, don’t do tea length ect. Personally, I’ve never ascribed to petite rules. I’ve instead turned to tiny style icons, like the Olsen twins. I get inspiration from these babes instead of looking to what a magazine tells me to wear.

The oversized sweater and tall boots trend has been popular for a while now! I’ve been hesitant to try it out. Not because of the proportions, but for fear of it feeling too revealing. The sweater may be long but let’s be honest- it’s still a pantless look. Here are my top three tips to pulling off this simple and modern look!

1: Get Some Short Shorts

Getting rid of the pantless feeling is easy and simple. Just throw on some gym shorts under your sweater! The best part is they don’t even have to be Spanx still since the sweater is oversized.

2: Play with Textures and Accessories.

An oversized sweater and tall boots look is simple. They are a wonderful base for your favorite accessories! Another way to take this look to the next level is to play with your textures. A thick knit will give the style a different feel than a thin knit or leather vs suede for your boots. Play around! Make this look yours.

3: Balance.

Both an oversized sweater and tall boots are statement pieces- keep them balanced. If there is a good bit of leg between your hem and boot perhaps make the neckline a turtleneck. It the sweater is longer keep the neckline open. If the sweater is a bulky piece keep the boots streamlined  and vice versa.
