Red lips are incredibly popular for the Holiday Season, and I tried out four different formulas and brands to share with you lovely readers.
The reds ranged from lipstick and gloss, to stains- with berry to bright red. I love all of these formulas because they have amazing colour pay off, and are going to last through all the cocktails any party can throw at you this Christmas season.
First up: Sephora’s Oil Infusion Colour and Care. This lippie has a gorgeous light berry colour, and because it’s infused with kendi oil and shea butter it leave lips feeling supply and moisturized.
The oils and shea butter may keep my lips kissable soft, but I’m not going to lie I’m more likely to make this face than a kissy face!
Next up: Stila’s Stay All Day Vinyl lipgloss. This gloss isn’t the sticky and tacky version of yesteryear, rather it contains lip softening seaweed extract and green coffee extract. (Notice a moisture needing trend so far?) I love the colour payoff of this super shiny lippie.
Third to bat: Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme. This lipstick feels like silk on you lips! It doesn’t travel across your face through the evening, even without a lip liner. (As you can tell from my ever present top knot- I don’t like time consuming hair and makeup) The colour is the perfect winter blue based red.
Last but certainly not least: MAC Cosmetics lipstick in Sin. This is my favourite red lip colour of all time. It’s darker than the others, but still incredibly wearable- to an event or just everyday in general. This version is matte, and definitely not as moisturizing as the others, however the colour doesn’t move so putting some chapstick on top keeps my lips in tip top shape.
There are so many many many red lip options out there right now and I really hope you try out several out this year. There really is a shade and formula for everyone!
PS: I shot all of this red lips in one day with the amazing Shell from A Courageous Beauty! My lips took a beating with all the applications and removals of the lippies- fortunately my makeup remover is gentle AND strong. I highly recommend giving micellar water a try if you haven’t already!
