“Time does not change us; it unfolds us.”
For as long as you’ve known me, this is who I have been:
This was my first foray into the world of blogging- my first custom header by the amazing Moda Illustrated. Over a year ago this was quintessentially me: as long as something was maroon it was me.
I love the above quote because time is what makes us grow- like a flower’s delicate petals unfurling. Sometimes growth can be painful; I found a groove blogging, lost it and then struggled to find what I was striving for with my little site.
So I dove into some books about blogging, being happy, and staying true to yourself and I realized:
“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens”
Making everything maroon, merely for the sake of liking the colour is who I am. Taking this site as a fun little side thing where I talk about clothes and “blog write” is not where I want to be.
Now it is not about the colour of an item but more about how true it is to me. I am more sure of who I am, what I want, and how to express both. It’s time to say goodbye to the familiar and move forward on a new journey. Today I am not growing up but growing forward.
Please welcome with love:
I want to share with you the two reasons which led me to feel drawn to this new brand:
- Yes, maroon will always be dear to me; truly though my colour is a rich burgundy- if you’ve followed for a while you are probably going “oh yes”. To me, it is more mature, grown, and chic- a direction I feel my style is evolving.
- Burgundy is an almost medievally romantic description of the colour of blood, morbid sounding but stay with me! It is so important to daily remember to bask in the blood of Christ, to be in His presence
“Let us honour the blood of Jesus Christ every moment of our lives, and we will be sweet in our souls.”
William J. Seymour
(Plus, who doesn’t love a good burgundy Bordeaux?! Wino here. )
I love style, fashion, clothes, beauty and I love to share my thoughts on them. More importantly, though, I have dealt with no more and no less than any individual in my life- I know what I have dealt with, what I have gone through, can inspire or help others.
Going forward I want Basking in Burgundy to be about style and beauty, tongue in cheek, and full of beautiful pictures! However, I also want it to be a place of depth, love and support.
I’d love to have you along on this new path: let’s join together and grow a beautiful garden that continues to blossom and unfurl.
