“We were emerging from the period of war, of uniforms, of women-soldiers built like boxers. I drew women-flowers, soft shoulders, fine waists like liana and wide skirts like corolla.”
-Christian Dior
I have a love hate relationship with skirts. I want to love them but I hate styling them for the most part. You would think they would be as simple as a pair of pants. Somehow, it isn’t as basic as jeans and a cute top though! Despite the challenge I always face styling skirts, time and time again I find myself falling for skirts with unique cut or pattern like this one:
With this skirt I decided to keep it simple and just allow the asymmetrical cut and buttons take center stage. To do so, I turned to my tried and true favs- over the knee boots and a plain black turtleneck! The verdict? I still don’t feel like skirts are one hundred percent me. I do feel that I am closer to cracking “the code” to working such a classic item into my closet!
Regardless of how I feel about skirts, I do know that I LOVE these photos by Anni of Anni Powell Photography! If you are ever in the PNW you have to check her out for all your photography needs.
Question time: How do you feel about skirts? Do you struggle with them or are they a go to in your closet?

I totally get the way you feel about skirts! They’ve always been kinda on the fence for me too. But lately I’ve been finding more and more I love – and they’re usually a unique pattern or style as well! This skirt is so fun on you. And can I say that these photos are just gorgeous? You look amazing!
I’m a huge skirt person. I love this style and color on you!

Love this skirt! I went to a private high school so I had to wear a skirt on a daily basis, so I try to stay away from them but there are so many cute options, especially for spring!
I love wearing skirts! Always easy for me to throw on with a simple top
I love skirts! I think you styled it perfectly!

I struggle finding a good skirt. I usually go for A-line because it fits my shape better! This one looks so cute on you!
I personally love skirts because they flatter my tiny frame! You look great in that outfit x

I loveeee denim skirts – but that’s it! I’m not a big fan of skirts all-around, just cute button up denim ones I can dress up or down in the spring.
I love styling skirts! They are fun, and the one you have on is adorable!
I struggle with styling skirts from summer to fall and winter to spring, but this looks is such great inspo. Love it!
Right there with you lady! They’re always hard for me as well. You look adorable though, I love this one on you!

Skirts are a go to in my closet. I can’t get enough of them! This one looks good on you and I like how you paired it with the boots <3
You can totally pull off a skirt girl!! Your whole outfit is so fab! But I know exactly what you mean. I’ve purchased more than a few skirts recenetly and I love them, but I don’t feel as comfortable in them as I would wearing something else.
xo, lydia
I think you are totally rockin this skirt though babe!! Love it with these over the knee boots!
